What books are on your nightstand?
I've been trying to finish this book so that I may go on to the last book of the trilogy, but school's always gotten in the way. The second book of the trilogy highlights Darcy when he wasn't in Austen's book and mysteriously disappeared; in Aidan's version of Darcy, he is tempted by another woman and finds himself always thinking about Elizabeth. Or something like that...I'm not very far :P
I feel like I've been neglecting Vox. But never fear! To compensate, I bring you one of the pieces we're currently playing in orchestra! Like always, I haven't been practicing. I really should, because there's some weird string crossing, but I never feel like it or have the time thanks to other subjects in school. Oh well. I like being in the back. :D
What was the highlight of this past weekend?
Hm. I'd say getting to part two of Crime and Punishment. Although I have to admit, I've been finding the book intriguing and interesting now. The beginning of all, if not most, books are extremely boring anyways, but I've been so against the books assigned for school reading that I don't give them a chance anymore. Don't judge a book by its cover!
The only reason why I'm probably liking this book is because of Raskolnikov's demented mind. He's a confused individual who believes he's exempt from moral law...and we all know how I love those characters who seem to cross moral boundaries. Morally ambiguous villians/protagonists are the love! Plus his thought process is something interesting to read, and I found the scene where he committed his crime particularly faascinating. My eyes were speeding across the page at a very rapid speed :3
Speaking of books, how about a book meme?
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
HA! Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pride and Prejudice (one of the greatest novels ever), just to start off the list. Asriel from His Dark Materials, and Demandred from Wheel of Time. There's tons really, but those three come to mind. OH! AND DRACO MALFOY OF HARRY POTTER. I only love him in the books though, because his character in the movies is puke-worthy.
The last book you bought is?
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. That book is pure genius and comes highly recommended from me. Before that I got The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky for school summer reading.
What are you currently reading?
Crime and Punishment as aforementioned, Wheel of Time: Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan (because I still haven't gotten book 11), and also the Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman trilogy by Pamela Aidan. I seem to have misplaced the second book in the trilogy though, which seriously sucks because I can't find it and it's a 13 dollar book. Not to mention that it was a birthday gift ._.
Five books you would take to a deserted island:
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger
Angels and Demons, Dan Brown
Life of Pi, Yann Martel
Death Be Not Proud, John Gunther
Anyways, I think I need to take some pictures. If this is going to be a photolog, might as well make it happen right?
